A fetish said to hold great power in his body. A nail would be hammered into the statue for each wish, both for personal use and for ceremonial use by the soothsayer-healer Nganga. These statuettes were used to stay in good health and solve problems. Made of wood, white and red pigment (kaolin and tokula), a mixture of clay and plants, pieces of glass, metal, three mirrors, nails, tow broken feet. Sacrificial remains. Sold with written description of the tribe and private review by David Norden. 38 cm in length - 13 cm in height (9 cm excl. nails) From a French private collection. It is quite seldom to find those dogs. The last one I saw in a Gallery in Paris was XIXth century and from a similar quality, it was priced 45,000€ the estimate I have put on this one is € 1,500 - € 3,000 You next minimum bid needed to reach the reserve price and so that I can send this little dog with two heads to your home is € 900
