Congo 1st half of 20th century - Good condition A little Pende masquette: provenance Gaëtan Schoonbroodt -collected before 1952 The Pende or Phende (ethnonym: Bapende or Baphende; singular Mupende or Muphende) are an ethnic group found in the south-western Democratic Republic of the Congo also in the Kasai Occidental province around the diamond mines of Tshikapa, and especially in the Kwilu District. Their population is estimated to be around 250,000. This is a small mask with some magic charge at the back .Slight damage at the nose and on the side of the mask (see images) Height: 15 cm (6 inch), 21cm on it's delivered stand . estimate: € 400 - € 800 .
