Congo Early 20th century - Fair condition Nicely carved female TEKE fetish figure carrying a burden on the belly. Dimensions: Height: 25 cm Teke ancestral figure, also called Buti. Flat head and finely lined tattoo on the face (mabina); an agglomerate of mass in the cavity of the belly (matomba) produces the powerful image. The Teke figures usually have a trapezoid-shaped beard. Condition: Fair. Take a good look at the pictures. There is a crack in the wood, around the belly.
